What is the Macedonian Centre for Parliamentary Studies

The Macedonian Centre for Parliamentary Studies was established by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy with support and in partnership with the British Embassy in Skopje to help the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia to create its own sustainable centre of learning for their staff and members. The Centre comprises of leading experts in the fields of parliamentary practice, financial oversight and communications. Led by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, the Centre has developed a curriculum based on international best practice. Working with Macedonian partners ensures that curriculum content is relevant to local circumstances; it is delivered in a format and an approach suitable to the Assembly and uses both Macedonian and international examples and case studies.

The Centre’s Macedonian partners comprise reputable universities, institutions of learning and non-governmental organisations that have the necessary skills and expertise. By delivering the programme jointly with Macedonian and UK partners, the Centre is able to ensure the transfer of the required skills and knowledge, but can also support the Assembly well into the future.
